Happy New Year
1/1/2026
2025 was a great year with lots of adventures, lessons, and milestones. Some of the standout memories for the year were seeing the Northern Lights in Tromso, strolling Times Square with all of its Christmas glory, and road tripping The Great Smoky Mountains with old friends. I hit goals set for myself that I am proud to look back on like starting my own business and smashing my Goodreads annual reading challenge (my 2025 “year in books” if anyone is interested).
Going into 2026 I wanted to set a few new goals for myself and felt that this public setting was a nice a way to hold myself accountable to them. Here’s what I’m commiting to in 2026:
-
Don’t drink alcohol for all of January (Dry January).
I will report back here with how I felt. I’m not a heavy drinker by any means but I want to see if completely abstaining has a tangible effect on my wellbeing.
-
Eat less sugar.
Ask anyone close to me and they will be able to tell you all about my love of sweets. Ice cream, cookies, brownies, you name it. I’m not quite sure how to quantify this one and not even sure that I want to. Just be more mindful of when and how much I consume.
-
Get 3 new clients for my business.
Since it’s still a side hustle I cannot afford to commit too much time to this but I want to begin growing my client list and helping local businesses utilize AI.
-
Read 30 books.
Though I read more than this in 2025, it was also just an unusual year for my reading and audiobooks count. I will still be very happy to hit 30.
-
Be more mindful
Try to take a step back and take in the moment a bit more. Check out my surroundings, feel my feelings, and notice the people. This is something I always try to work on and is a continuous effort to be present in the moment more often.
I plan to provide some updates throughout the year on how these goals are going.
I hope you had a great 2025 and that you enter into the new year with excitement and peace. Happy New Year!
